Describe how you work in a team with your partners.
Each partnership is different. Over time, you learn what you can do to help each partner shine. Communication is important during game play, but to get the best performance from a partner, it’s important to understand what type of environment they thrive in and be able to provide that- whether it be enthusiastic celebration, or a quiet word of encouragement. I feel one of my strengths is sensing what a partner needs from me that day, game, or moment in order to succeed. I get along with all types of people and play with all personality types successfully.
Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:
2022 15u National all-star (indoor)
This award was very important to me as it was selected by the coaches of competing teams. To be grouped in with the best volleyball athletes in the country was such an honour. It was so nice to be recognized for my years of hard work, especially throughout the Covid years.
What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
Music- I play guitar and sing. I love to play all genres and it’s a creative outlet for me! It helps me chill out after a long day of school and training.
Reading- I enjoy the peace of escaping into a book!
Animals- I have always had pets and right now we have the best cat named Kitty!
Who are your role models and why?
My brother is role model to me because he has always worked very hard at school and at his sport. He’ll be attending Johns Hopkins University to play baseball. He has stayed focussed on his goals and shown me the dedication it takes to get there. He’s also very supportive of all of my goals.
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
I have participated in many different sports competitively including downhill ski racing, karate, soccer, track & field, swimming, and more. I am completing my lifeguard certification, and enjoy performing in musical theatre (I played leading roles of Alice in Wonderland and Annie in Orphan Annie). It’s important to me to have varied interests to keep things interesting! But… volleyball above all else!

What program would you like to attend in school?
I would like to be a teacher, so a degree in psychology / sociology or education is of interest to me at this point.
How do you envision your school life in college/university?
Lots of hard work split between school, the beach courts, and the gym (which is all fun for me)! With some napping thrown in.
