Describe how you work in a team with your partners.

I use positive feedback to ensure trust and motivation. I am encouraging and communicative because that is what keeps energy levels up and performance high.

Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:

MVP Phoenix Flash 2020-2021 – I was so honoured as I had only been playing volleyball for 2 years. I felt like all of my extra training sessions and hard work was worth the effort. I was happy my coach saw the level of intensity and dedication I was delivering.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

I love music and have playlists to motivate me, inspire me and calm me down. Music can have such a positive effect on one’s mood and can be inspiring when you need to get ready for a game or tournament.

Who are your role models and why?

Sophie Bukovec – A Canadian player who almost quit volleyball who then worked even harder, found a new partner and is now named the breakout player of the year. I had the honour of training with Sophie and she inspired me to reach my goals of playing at the university level.

Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?

I was involved in the school dance show to raise money for a local charity. Not only is dancing good for exercise, mood and energy I was helping raise money for a good cause while having fun!

I was a gymnast before becoming a volleyball player and my coach was instrumental in helping me become the person I am. I continue to work with her for strength training, fitness and motivation as she is one of the most inspiring people I know.

Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?

Grade 9 Honour Roll – it can be a difficult adjustment from elementary school to high school and Covid made it that much more difficult but I am happy I made Honour Roll and know I can continue to succeed at the school I love.

What program would you like to attend in school?

Right now my interests are math and science but I have not narrowed down a program or specialty as of yet. Possibly marine biology, astrologist or business.

How do you envision your school life in college/university?

I am excited to move away from home and meet new people. I would love to explore a new province or state. I am open and eager to new opportunities and am excited to speak with coaches to see what might be the right fit for me.
