Describe how you work in a team with your partners.

I work very well in team sports and I love working as part of a team and with partners! I believe that everyone can offer a different skillset, point of view and personality that makes the bond we share so special and functional. Each player plays a role in the success of the team and when we find a rhythm, it makes the hard-work worth the effort. I like to form strong friendships and relationships with each of my teammates and coaches so that we can better communicate, trust and understand each other. I like to take on the leadership role for my team but I try to do so in a way that demonstrates my reliability, while also motivating those around me to be the best overall athlete they can be! I love problem solving and making adjustments which is what I enjoy most about volleyball; one strategic correction can completely change the entire momentum of the game! I appreciate receiving feedback from my coaches so I can keep making improvements to increase my own skillset and better my team in the process. However, regardless of the outcome I like to reflect, revise and set new goals, and create new action plans of how I can achieve them. I believe that by putting these thoughts, ideas, and plans to paper I can help my team and myself reach our full potential.

After these athletic highlights I felt I could conquer the world! These made me feel unstoppable in my own special way and it was so promising and encouraging that we were capable of greatness. These accolades instilled inspiration and motivation to play at the next level and for continuous progress in sports.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

Outside of sports I am very crafty and love experimenting with my own artistic abilities! I have always loved hands on activities and being able to create something of my own. I enjoy travelling and hope to one day visit new countries overseas to experience new cultures!

Who are your role models and why?

I have a few different role models that have all taught me something overtime. I look up to Morgan Hentz, who is one of the best who have played her position. We are both liberos and I strive to play at the same level as her. I think that I have the same level of determination and with experience, continuous progress and resiliency I have the potential to develop into an athlete like her.
Another of my role models is Sarah Wells. Sarah is an Olympic 400m hurdler and she started a “Believe Initiative” that inspires youth all over Canada. One of the things I admire most about her is that her athletic journey to the Olympics wasn’t an easy experience. It took her multiple tries and years to get to the toughest competition of her life but she never let up. She gave me a piece of advice and that was: “Hard work, unfortunately, won’t always lead to success but being resilient and believing in yourself will always lead to another opportunity for it.” No sports journey is meant to come easily but if I can adapt this mindset into everyday life hopefully it will contribute to success one day.
My final role models are my parents. My mom works two jobs and my dad is a shift worker but somehow in all of the chaos that goes on in everyday life they made everything work out as planned. They are my biggest supporters and my ultimate inspiration!

Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?

Even before I started playing volleyball, I was always involved in some sort of competitive sport. It was always important to me that I stay active because it was a way that I could branch out and meet new people to develop friendships. I’ve competed in swimming, gymnastics, basketball and even horseback riding! With every sport and activity, I have learned new things about myself! I hope that sports will always be a life-long passion of mine!

Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?

4.0 GPA on 4.0 scale, 93% average
Bilingual – English and French
Award for the Top Grade in Principles of Mathematics (2021)
Award for the Top Grade in the Exploring Technologies Class (2021)
Award for the Top Grade in French Immersion (2021)
Honour Roll (2021)
Award for the Most Improved Student (2020)
Honour Roll (2020)

After receiving these awards and accomplishments I felt extremely proud and uplifted because it took considerable effort to achieve these goals and it is a proud moment to be recognized for my hard work. I hold myself to a high standard because my education has always meant a great deal of importance to me. Still, there is always room for improvements so I use these accolades as my goals for the coming years.

What program would you like to attend in school?

I would like to pursue a degree in Civil and Architectural Engineering (possible double major).

How do you envision your school life in college/university?

I envision my life in college/university to be filled with new experiences, friendships, fulfilling studies and some core memories! Volleyball would be a substantial contributor to my post secondary experience. I imagine myself to have developed into a self-sufficient individual with the best work ethic and commitment I have ever displayed. I strive to find a healthy balance of athletics and academics while still pushing myself to find new limits. It excites me to be able to pursue the sport I love and the career I’m passionate about while being an active, contributing member to my school’s campus, community and culture. I hope that my true experience is as fulfilling as imagined.
