Describe how you work in a team with your partners.

Working with partners, as a team, has always comes naturally to me. It is just as important to be a teammate and friend off the court as much as on the court. By building a bond with my teammates in different aspects of their lives, helps the team grow and support each other on the court. I find it very important for the team to be able to communicate at all times and also be able to keep a positive atmosphere. As team captain, it is my responsibility to be a leader and to always push myself to achieve my goals, as well as our team goals.

Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:

Team Ontario Regional Camp: I found that it would be a great opportunity to meet new people with the same interest and be able to get some coaching from different coaches in Ontario. I found it great because I was able to improve on skills as well as set new goals and reach them.

I was MVP of my team and also team captain. I was given the chance to work on my leadership skills and still now I am trying to get better at them. I was very happy that I got these awards for how much dedication and time I put into this sport.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

My other interests outside of sports are spending time with friends and family. I always spend time with my older sister. We like going for car rides and listen to music because it gets our mind off of things. I also love playing board games on family nights and with my friends! I also love outdoor activities like horseback riding, skiing and biking. Living in Northern Ontario is like having nature at your doorstep. As well, I enjoy our family trips. My family and I have been travelling since I was 2 years old and it’s a great way to see the world and create memories I will cherish forever.

Who are your role models and why?

One of my role models is my coach Danny. He has taught me so much in the last couple years. He is a man who has a big heart and is dedicated on improving my skills, he has helped me grow, not only in volleyball but also as a person.

Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?

I find it very important to be involved in other sports and activities to help keep me balanced. I compete in beach volleyball in the summer. I enjoy skiing, skating and sledding in the winter months and swimming and camping in the summer months.

Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?

I have been on the Honor Roll since beginning high school. I work hard to get good grades. My most recent achievement was a perfect grade on a biology project describing the three main parts of a cell. I found it very interesting!

What program would you like to attend in school?

I am not quite sure what I would like to take yet, but I am taking a variety of classes to keep my options open. I am leaning towards either a program in biology or a sports related program.

How do you envision your school life in college/university?

I envision my school life to be very busy. I imagine staying focused on volleyball and my studies while having fun experiencing school life. I foresee needing to be organized and committed to accomplish both academics and athletics successfully. I look forward to making new friends and I am excited to get to see what college / university life is like.
